Andrew Brodie Basics – Let’s do Spelling: Ages 8-9 (Workbook)

Matched to the demands of the National Curriculum and part of the successful Andrew Brodie Basics series, the Let’s Do Spelling workbooks provide all the practice children need to build their confidence and boost their ability to spell words correctly. Ideal for parents keen to support their children at home with additional spelling practice or for tutors working with children in preparation for school tests and entrance exams.

With 35 practice tests and 7 progress tests, each book includes over 400 words to learn accompanied by useful spelling tips and extra advice from Comma the cat. Further challenges, stretching children’s ability to apply spelling rules, take the form of Brodie’s Brain Boosters.

And because we know that motivation and encouragement are key to a child’s success, each book includes over 100 full colour reward stickers!

About the author:

Andrew Brodie

Andrew Brodie was a primary headteacher for twelve years before developing his publishing company to create educational resources for children, teachers and parents. Andrew Brodie Publications was bought by Bloomsbury Publishing in 2003 and the books have continued to go from strength to strength.

Andrew has written articles for many educational magazines including The Teacher and Educhat. He has appeared on radio, speaking on educational matters, including giving interviews on BBC Somerset Sound, BBC Radio London, Radio Qatar and Al Jazeera. He was the keynote speaker for the Qatar National Education Conference in 2010. His videos on methods of teaching addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are available to view through the Bloomsbury website.

Andrew believes strongly that his books can only be effective if he fully understands the needs of children and schools so he continues to work with pupils on a regular basis. He runs his own after-school tuition company as well as a theatre school and is a governor of a village primary school.

Total sales of Andrew’s books are now approaching two million and several of the titles now have accompanying apps. The Let’s Do Mental Maths and Telling the Time apps have won prestigious awards including a Primary Update Gold Award and The Bookseller FutureBook Award for non-fiction.

His Friday Maths Puzzle is posted on Twitter (@ABrodieWriter) and Facebook (AB Education) every week and is popular with both children and adults.
