By the age of 7, children already have firm grasp and foundation in language, numeracy and science. Now that your child has got to grips with numbers and letters, they can begin to tackle more complicated calculations, longer words and even other languages. In addition, by learning through play children also start to develop more advanced problem-solving and creative skills. They don’t just learn the facts. With improved fine motor skills, 7 year olds can be trusted with more complex toys which they can enjoy by themselves or with friends. Playing with other children is one of the best ways for a child to build on and refine their social skills, and they can learn so much at the same time. As they begin to discover more about the world around them, we’re sure they’ll have lots of questions for you!Language Educational Toys For 7 Year Olds
There is no better time to learn a new language than as a young child. Research has shown that children below the age of 10 find it the easiest to grasp a new language and develop great fluency. This is because children’s brains are still absorbing information at a rapid rate, an ability that drops off as we approach adulthood. That’s why encouraging your child to learn a new language through play can be so beneficial in the long term. With an alphabet puzzle board, children can simultaneously start to learn new words and develop their fine motor and problem solving skills, as they try and fit the shapes into the corresponding holes. This is a brilliant way to increase their familiarity with a new alphabet. Some variants on this language educational toy for 7 year olds will have the corresponding English letters on the other side, and the blocks can be stacked on top of each other for additional fun. When your child is ready to practice drawing out their letters, we would recommend using a magnetic whiteboard/blackboard. A set of magnetic letters can be stuck to the board, allowing the child to move them around and form new words. To help them out, similar shaped letters are colour coded the same. They can then copy these letters using either pen on a whiteboard or chalk on a blackboard. Both are easy to wipe away, giving them the opportunity to fix their mistakes and practice to their heart’s content. Similar skills can be learnt through use of alphabet letter drawing templates. Children can practice drawing around both uppercase and lowercase letters, both on their own and arranged into words.Numeracy Educational Toys For 7 Year Olds
Now that they’ve mastered counting, 7 year old children are beginning to get to grips with more complicated complications. Colourful weighted counters can be great visual aids for helping children to learn to add and subtract. The ability to physically group and separate items can really bring numbers to life and help children understand mathematical concepts much more easily. Our weighted counters are available in 3 different weights, giving children the opportunity to play around with them on scales and learn how weight fluctuates as you add and remove more items. If your child is ready to tackle their times tables, we would recommend using double-sided blocks or pieces. On one side of the wood is the calculation and on the other is the answer. Children can test themselves over and over again until they feel confident that they know the answers. These times tables boxes can be easily packed away to use on holiday or when travelling. They’re a brilliant way to pass the time in the car! As well as times tables, your child might be ready to explore fractions more. A fraction board will allow them to physically see how something that appears whole can actually be split in half, thirds or quarters.Science Educational Toys For 7 Year Olds
Science educational toys are wonderful for getting your child engaged with both the outside and microscopic world. By nature, children are incredibly curious and keen to learn more about their surroundings. Through play, you can get them excited to learn. Magnets are an endless source of fascination for children thanks to the fascinating way in which they repel and attract metallic objects. Children can have endless hours of fun playing with magnets and a range of household items. A set of easy to use and handle binoculars will allow your child to begin exploring the world outside their window, whether that’s just in your back garden or out on a walk in the woods. You can help them to identify the animals and plants that they catch a glimpse of, starting to build up their knowledge of local wildlife. This is a brilliant way for adults to play and bond with their child while outdoors. As well as investigating the big wide world, educational toys for 7 year olds can also help them to understand things on a much smaller scale. For example, using the beginner’s microscope. Available in a conveniently portable size, children can carry this microscope around with them wherever they wish to explore. LED lights will sharpen the image without the child having to fiddle around with loads of dials or buttons. There is even a set of pre-prepared slides containing cells, fibres, starch and more, to get children started. Don't forget to also explore toys for eight-year-old children, especially as your children approaches this age.
